A suspect who dug a shaft near the separation fence in the Qalandia area was arrested. During his interrogation, he claimed he intended to dig a tunnel to infiltrate the country’s territory. This occurred during an operation by Border Police fighters in the Jerusalem envelope area.

Forces were dispatched to the scene to arrest the suspects. During this, the suspects began to flee, and a foot chase ensued, during which shots were fired into the air. At the end of the chase, a suspect (36, Qalandia) was arrested who was present in Israeli territory without a legal permit. The suspect led the fighters to the excavated shaft, and in an initial interrogation, claimed that their intention was to dig a tunnel aimed at infiltrating Israeli territory. Many digging tools and buckets, suspected of being used for the excavation, were found in the shaft. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests of additional suspects are expected.
