The government today approved our new five-year plan for the development of Eilat and the Eilot region, amounting to approximately NIS 360 million. Eilat and the Eilot region are the southern pearl of the State of Israel, its southern gateway, and a prime strategic, economic, and tourist asset. In the War of Independence, we saw the resilience, mutual responsibility, and great heart of the region’s residents, who absorbed tens of thousands of evacuees and stood up to an important national mission. Today, we are giving back to them through actions: we will strengthen healthcare services, upgrade emergency preparedness, develop transportation and infrastructure, promote growth and employment engines, strengthen tourism, and invest in education, higher education, and vocational training. This is how we ensure the future of Eilat and the Eilot region – and establish them as a central growth engine for the State of Israel in the coming years.
