The New Imperial occupies a nineteenth-century building just inside Jaffa Gate, at the top of Omar Ibn el-Khattab Square. It was built as a pilgrim hotel and has been run by the same family since 1949.
The location puts the Tower of David, the Armenian Quarter and the Christian Quarter souks within a few minutes on foot, and the Western Wall a little further.
