Jerusalem, 7 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police has reported that they have arrested family members of the terrorist who enacted the deadly shooting spree Sunday and a man suspected of providing assistance to the terrorist as its investigation continues.

Master Sergeant (res) Haim Kalomiti, 55, was killed and five other civilians were wounded Sunday morning in a terrorist shooting attack spanning several communities in Israel’s central region. One terrorist was killed by security forces.

From an initial police investigation, it appears that the terrorist, an Israeli citizen in his 20s from Tayibe, an Arab city in central Israel, left home in his vehicle around 10:30 AM and began a shooting spree across multiple sites. During this, the terrorist opened fire on civilians at a gas station in the Kokhav Ya’ir Tzur Yigal area, wounding two people; he continued driving toward Tzur Yitzhak, where he shot at the guard post at the settlement entrance and wounded another civilian, and nearby, he fired at a female civilian who was wounded.

Later, heading toward Tzur Natan, he fired at a vehicle—where a reservist soldier was killed and another soldier was wounded.

Subsequently, the terrorist arrived at the entrance to Sela’at and fired at the guard post. The settlement’s chief security officer engaged, returned fire, and exchanged shots with the terrorist, after which the terrorist fled the scene.

At 11:03, the terrorist was identified by officers from the Tira station, who initiated a chase after him, leading to his neutralization and elimination in an open area in the quarry zone between Tzour Natan and Tira.
