Jerusalem Anti-Draft Protest Turns Violent, Policewoman Assaulted, Two Arrested

A Jerusalem protest against the IDF draft by ultra-Orthodox individuals became violent, resulting in two arrests, including one for assaulting a policewoman.

Jerusalem, 5 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A protest against the military draft held today, Sunday, at the IDF’s (Israel Defense Forces) Jerusalem recruitment center by a number of ultra-orthodox people turned into a “violent and illegal breach of order,” said the Israel Police.

The Police Forces deployed in the field are working to “maintain public order and traffic routes, and to repel rioters who began to riot, attempting to break through security barriers, attack police officers, and throw objects.”

The police said that two suspects have so far been arrested and transferred for investigation, one of whom was arrested after assaulting a policewoman.
