Jerusalem, 25 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of the Interior is promoting the change in the municipal status of the Givat Ze’ev Local Council – located to the northwest of Jerusalem – to a municipality, after Interior Ministry Director General Israel Ozan accepted the recommendations of the Geographical Committee and the District Commissioner in Judea and Samaria.
According to the committee’s findings, the Givat Ze’ev Local Council currently has approximately 25,000 residents and is undergoing significant development, one of the highest in Israel. The council also has a distinct urban character, which is reflected both in the outline plans approved over the years and in the scope of development and construction planned for the future.
