100 Million Allocated to Promote Tourism in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria
The Israeli government has allocated over 100 million Shekels to boost tourism in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria, funding new attractions and infrastructure.
Jerusalem, 18 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The government approved a series of projects for the development of tourism in the Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria areas with a budget of more than 100 million Shekels ($34 million). This is in addition to other projects funded by the Ministry of Tourism that were approved, including the construction of an elevator and underground passages to make the Jewish Quarter more accessible and the creation of attractions and heritage sites in Jerusalem.
As part of a plan to develop the public-tourism space in the center of Jerusalem, it was decided to develop the tourist route from Mahane Yehuda Market (the Shuk) to Nachlaot, to create a “vibrant tourist area and strengthen local businesses.” This will be done by upgrading the public space for pedestrians, developing the visitor experience, and creating physical and movement connections between the areas.
