Deadline Extended for Israeli Citizens to Use Foreign Passports for Travel
Israeli citizens holding foreign passports can use them for international travel until December 31, 2026, due to service disruptions from ongoing conflicts.
Jerusalem, 24 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority announced that Israeli citizens who hold foreign passports may continue to use them for travel abroad until December 31, 2026.
This is in spite of the fact that Israeli law requires that all Israeli citizens enter and leave the country with a local passport, even if they hold a foreign one.
However, the wars in Gaza and against Iran caused disruptions in many public services. So, the government has granted the above exemption for people who were unable to renew their passports.
