As part of Hayek’s investigation, it emerged that for several months he was in contact online with an Iranian foreign agent. During this contact, Hayek revealed his identifying details and those of his family members. It also emerged that Hayek agreed to undergo training in an Arab country and was even asked to recruit additional individuals to carry out missions under their direction. During Hayek’s contact with the Iranian agent, Hayek’s family members received threatening communications directly from the Iranian agent, and despite this, Hayek continued to remain in contact with the agent. In addition, in his investigation, he admitted that he was assisted by another young man, Assaf Shitrit (21), a resident of Beit Oved, for the purpose of carrying out a mission for the foreign agent, and therefore he was also arrested for Shin Bet investigation. Today, a serious indictment is expected to be filed against the two.
