Jerusalem, 2 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Brigadier General A. assumed the position of head of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Operations Division, replacing Brigadier General Manny Liberty, who served in this position for the past two years and will now serves as the commander of the 98th Paratroopers Division.

At the handover ceremony held on Monday, Brigadier General A. said: “I am very excited and proud to be in this position. Tonight, I have the privilege of joining you, and an even greater responsibility to head the Operations Brigade. I accept command of the brigade with sacred reverence and a deep sense of mission. I pledge to act with determination, modesty, and wisdom, and to invest all of my strength in order to fulfill my responsibility to the best of my ability, in order to be worthy of the position and in order to be worthy of you as commander.”

“We are in a multi-sectoral, long and challenging war, which has exacted a very heavy and painful price from us – two thousand twenty-eight fallen, each one a world in its own right, and thousands wounded in body and soul,” he added. “A war that began with a conceptual, intelligence and operational failure. On the morning of Simchat Torah, October 7, the Intelligence Division failed in its most important mission, to warn of war, and thus failed to fulfill its mission as the first line of defense of the State of Israel.”

“It is our duty to remember the failure, to act with the knowledge that it could also happen on our watch, and to continue the work of correction and assimilation of the lessons.”
