Israel Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt on Jordan Border, Two Arrested

Israeli security forces thwarted a drug smuggling attempt on the Jordan border, arresting two men and seizing 21kg of suspected narcotics.

Jerusalem, 11 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security forces foiled a drug smuggling attempt along the border with Jordan, the Israel Police said on Monday.

Two suspects, residents of the Bedouin Negev town of Bir Hadaj in their 20s, were arrested after being identified near the border fence as they allegedly threw a package containing a substance suspected to be narcotics across the boundary. Officers seizing approximately 21 kilograms of suspected drugs.

According to police, this marks the fourth such incident in the past month. In recent weeks, security forces have seized about 182 kilograms of suspected drugs worth more than NIS 5 million ($1.7 million).
