Jerusalem, 22 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Consumer Protection and Fair-Trade Authority warns there is concern about the exploitation of public distress after the October 7 massacre and the war in Gaza following a general boom in the market for alternative products and services for dealing with anxiety and trauma and an increase in complaints about phenomena of deception in this area, which the Authority said could expose consumers to health risks.
From information received by the Authority, there is an increase in the advertising and distribution of treatments and supplements on social media, sometimes by individuals who lack the training and professional knowledge of experts in the field of treatment – while promising “miracle solutions” offered to a general public in a state of heightened emotional vulnerability.
According to the findings of a review, various parties, some without appropriate training and the professional expertise required to tailor treatment, are taking advantage of the significant increase in demand among the general public for solutions to anxiety and emotional trauma, and the long waiting times in recognized public services , and are marketing a variety of nutritional supplements, technological devices, alternative treatment methods and online courses on social media, using emotional messages, empathetic language – and sometimes even promises of a “miracle solution.”
