Israeli Students Win Six Medals at Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad

Jerusalem, 29 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s chemistry team achieved major success at the 59th Mendeleev Olympiad, winning four silver and two bronze medals at the competition in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The six high school students, trained through a Technion-led program supported by the Ministry of Education and the Maimonides Foundation.

“It is important to highlight excellence in science – it is the key to everything,” said Israeli President Isaac Herzog in a phone call congratulating the team. “What you are doing is tremendous, and Israel cherishes and appreciates you and all our stars in the Science Olympiads.”

The team will compete next in the International Chemistry Olympiad in the United Arab Emirates this July.
