Israels Foreign Ministers Dismisses Hamas Move Dissolving Gazas Governing Body as Nothing More Than a Ploy
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar dismisses Hamas' move to dissolve its governing body as a "ploy" to avoid disarmament and maintain military control in Gaza.
Jerusalem, 6 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar slammed Hamas’ decision to dissolve its current governing body and replace it with the “National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG),” which it announced on Monday.
Sa’ar dismissed the move to transfer power to the NCAG, also know as the “Technocratic Committee,” as nothing more than a “ploy” on the part of the terrorist group so that it will not have to disarm.
“Hamas wants a ‘Hezbollah model. in Gaza,” said Sa’ar.
“The technocratic committee will be responsible for garbage collection and municipal services, and Hamas will remain the dominant military force,” he added. “When the weapons are in Hamas’s hands—the civilian government will of course operate according to its dictates. Thus, Hamas will be able to continue suppressing the Palestinians in Gaza and its jihad war against Israel.”
Israel, he said, still insists on implementing “some version of the Trump plan, at the center of which is the dismantling of Hamas and the other terror organizations from their weapons and the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip.”
