Detectives from the Lahish District and investigators from Ashdod Customs launched a covert operation that included surveillance, monitoring, and control of container movement. Subsequently, trucks arrived, loaded the containers, and began driving towards the Judea and Samaria areas. Detectives from the Lahish District arrested the trucks and the drivers, residents of East Jerusalem, and transferred them along with the containers for inspection at Ashdod Customs, where smuggled cigarettes with an estimated value of approximately 20 million NIS were found. The customs agent and importers were arrested for investigation at the Ashdod Customs YASAM unit.
