Israel's Ministry of Transportation and Ayalon Highways are launching a smart transportation program to aid local authorities facing traffic and accessibility.

Jerusalem, 6 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Transportation, through the Ayalon Highways Company, is launching a new program to promote smart transportation in local authorities. The program will provide professional guidance, technological advice, and infrastructure to promote smart transportation solutions in dealing with traffic congestion, congestion, and accessibility challenges.

As part of the first phase of the program, local authorities will be selected to receive professional support and technological advice from Ayalon Highways, which includes analyzing the existing transportation situation, road safety, mapping key challenges such as traffic congestion, accessibility and public transportation problems, and formulating a basket of solutions and practical recommendations tailored to the needs of the authority.

The call is intended for urban local authorities with a population of 10,000 to 100,000, facing significant intra-municipal transportation challenges, and which do not have an active transportation department. Participation in the program is intended to strengthen the authorities’ professional capabilities, promote data-based decision-making processes, and accelerate innovative solutions to improve mobility, safety, and quality of life for residents.
