The Israel Airports Authority has published a tender for a large-scale expansion of Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport, one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the airport’s history.
The project will add a new eastern wing of approximately 63,000 square meters, including 86 new check-in counters, expanded passenger halls, retail and duty-free areas, a new baggage screening and sorting facility, and upgraded security systems. Together with additional planned projects — including a fifth terminal arm — the expansion is designed to raise Ben Gurion Airport’s annual capacity to approximately 40 million passengers.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev said the investment was strategically necessary given the return of International Airlines and growing demand for flights. Israel Airports Authority Chairman Yiftah Ron-Tal said Israel must be prepared for the coming decades. CEO Sharon Kadmi said billions of shekels are being invested across multiple infrastructure upgrades.
