4,348,275 Motor Vehicles in Israel
Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics reports 4,348,275 motor vehicles in 2025, a 3% increase, with electric vehicles up 32.9%.
Jerusalem, 3 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — At the end of 2025 there were 4,348,275 motor vehicles in Israel (an increase of 3.0% compared to 2024), according to the data released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.
Of these, 3,789,429 were private (an increase of 3.2% similar to 2024).
419,447 vehicles were added and 291,582 were removed from the active inventory, so the number increased by 127,865.
In 2025, there were 216,265 electric vehicles, an increase of 32.9% compared to 2024.
18.4% of new private vehicles on the road in 2025 were electric vehicles, compared to 25.4% in 2024.
The total number of hybrid vehicles (regular and plug-in) stood at 587,314, an increase of approximately 22.8% (after an increase of 14.2% in 2024).
The number of electric- powered buses was 2,842, an increase of 36.4% (after a 35.8% increase in 2024).
The number of electric trucks over 3.5 tons was 2,700 compared to 562 in 2024, a sharp increase of about 380.4%.
The average age of vehicles in 2025 was 7.8 years, an increase compared to 2024 and 2023 (7.7 and 7.6, respectively). The average age of private vehicles was 7.8 years, also an increase compared to 2024 and 2023 (7.6 and 7.5, respectively).
The average age of ambulances was 4.8 years (5.2 years in 2024). The average age of fire engines was 12.8 (13.1 in 2024).
20.5% of motor vehicles in Israel were manufactured in Japan, 15.4% in South Korea, 8.3% in the Czech Republic, and 6.2% in China.
