Jerusalem, 5 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police and Shin Bet (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service) warned the public against maintaining contact with Iranian intelligence elements and carrying out missions under their direction.
“If there is any doubt or suspicion of such recruitment attempts, it must be reported immediately,” they said.
After last June’s war with Iran, Iranian intelligence officials have intensified their attempts to recruit Israelis on social media, in order to carry out missions aimed at gathering intelligence on strategic targets, the locations of individuals, and critical infrastructure.
Even these days, during the current war with Iran, there are efforts by Iranian elements to recruit Israeli citizens online, explained the police and the Shin Bet, who said they are working to arrest Israelis who are suspected of having contact with Iranian intelligence elements.
Since last June’s war, 16 security incidents have been revealed in which Israeli citizens had contact with Iranian intelligence elements and carried out missions under their direction. Serious indictments were filed against those Israeli citizens, accusing them of serious security offenses, which led to the courts ordering their detention until the end of the proceedings.
