Israel's public transportation system is returning to full service following the Iranian ceasefire, though northern routes remain limited.

Jerusalem, 9 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Following the ceasefire with Iran and in accordance with the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Home Front Command’s instructions, Israel’s Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety said it is working to restore the public transportation system to full operation, while maintaining the safety of passengers and workers in the transportation systems.

However, as fighting in Lebanon continues, areas in the north of Israel will continue to have limited public transportation for now.

All operating entities were prepared in advance for a scenario of returning to normal, and operational and engineering actions are now being carried out to restore service as soon as possible, said the Ministry.

Public buses are returning to full activity today, Thursday.

In the settlements on the confrontation line in the north, however, public transportation continues to operate at approximately 60% of the service at this stage, in accordance with security restrictions and Home Front Command guidelines.

Israel Railways is preparing return to full service in a phased manner in accordance with Home Front Command guidelines.

All stations of the Tel Aviv area light rail have returned to full operations as of Thursday morning.
