1. Due to Operation Roaring Lion, the operations at Ben Gurion Airport have been suspended and tens of thousands of Israelis remain abroad. Therefore, a “Lion’s Wings” program is being formulated under the guidance of the Prime Minister and headed by the Ministry of Transport, to help Israelis currently Abroad to return to Israel. The program includes a return route to Israel via flights to Taba Airport in Egypt.
2. The National Security Council recommends that Israelis returning to Israel through Egypt only take flights that land in Taba, and then go directly from the airport to the Taba border crossing, without remaining in Egypt (the Level 4 travel warning is in full effect).
3. The plan has not yet been implemented and is expected to launch in the coming days. At the same time, travelers have begun efforts through privately organized initiatives, which are not part of the “Lion’s Wings” program, to reach Israel via land routes through Egypt (landing at airports in Sinai, Sharm el-Sheikh or Taba, and traveling by vehicle to the Israeli border).
4. Additionally, travelers must strictly adhere to the following safety precautions:
* Upon arrival in Egypt, conceal anything that could identify you as Israeli or Jewish.
* Do not post updates or personal information on social media.
5. As soon as the “Lion’s Wings” program begins to operate, phone numbers for call centers will be published along with information about the flight locations and an explanation by the Ministry of Transport on how to register.
