Jerusalem, 25 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel Aerospace Industries and German shipbuilder Thyssenkrupp announced the delivery of the first autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), known as BlueWhale, to the German Navy in a handover at the Eckernförde naval base.
Measuring 10.9 meters in length and weighing 5.5 tons, the AUV can collect intelligence, detect submarines and other underwater targets, gather acoustic data, locate naval mines, and carry out covert maritime operations.
