Jerusalem, 9 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In light of the ongoing state of emergency and the closure of educational and daycare facilities, Israel’s Ministry of Welfare and Social Security will provide a grant to all foster families. The grant, in the amount of 500 Shekels ($161) per child, is intended to assist families in financing care and babysitting solutions following the closure of educational frameworks; special emphasis is given to the needs of families in which parents serve in the reserves or are defined as essential workers.

The Ministry emphasized that this assistance is “especially essential” for foster parents who are serving in the reserves or are defined as essential workers who are required to report to their duties and need available care solutions.

The grant will be transferred to all eligible foster families through the regular payment mechanism of the foster care service, and no application or action is required on the part of the families.
