Thousands of New Housing Units and Hotels Planned for Negev Towns

Yeruham and Dimona in Israel's Negev region will receive over 2,200 new housing units, hotels, and commercial spaces under new development plans.

Jerusalem, 19 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — the South District Planning and Building Committee decided to submit two new plans from the Ministry of Construction and Housing in the cities of Yeruham and Dimona, located to the southeast of Be’er Sheva, which together include approximately 2,265 Housing Units, commercial and employment areas, hotels, public buildings, sports and recreation, and open spaces.

In Yeruham, the plan includes a new residential neighborhood with approximately 1,205 housing units in buildings of up to 6 floors and in single-family homes. Of the total number of apartments, approximately 241 will be small apartments, and in addition, the construction of residential buildings will be possible.

It includes commercial, employment, light industrial and craft areas, public buildings, sports and recreational areas, and open spaces.

An urban square is planned at the entrance to the neighborhood, surrounded by buildings that will combine commerce, employment, public buildings and a conference hall. In addition, the plan allows for the expansion of the sports and recreation area adjacent to the Yeruham football stadium. Public parks and open spaces are planned along the neighborhood.

In Dimona, the plan includes approximately 1,060 housing units in a variety of residential types,- including single-family homes and high-rise construction.

In addition to the housing units, the plan includes approximately 150 hotel rooms, public buildings and institutions, open spaces, paths, roads, and a perimeter promenade.
