Right-Wing Minister Calls on Netanyahu to Tell Trump No on Ending Offensive Against Hezbollah
Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir publicly urged PM Netanyahu to defy President Trump's call for a Hezbollah ceasefire, demanding military.
Jerusalem, 1 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Minister of National Security, and the leader of the right-wing Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Strength) Party was the first member of Israel’s government to make a statement about President Trump’s announcement Monday night that Prime Minister Netanyahu had agreed to a new ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, and had even ordered Israeli troops already on the move in Lebanon to turn back.
In a social media post, Itamar Ben-Gvir reminded Netanyahu that the Prime Minister once said, “a strong prime minister tells the President of the United States—’yes’ when possible, and ‘no’ when necessary,” adding, “This is the time to tell our friend, President Trump ‘no.’”
“Now is the time to do what is required and necessary to strike Hezbollah, to unleash the hands of our fighters, and to restore security to the north,” declared Ben-Gvir.
Earlier this evening, in a post on Truth Social, Trump said he held a “very productive” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asserted that “there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back.”
