Jerusalem, 10 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar hosted in Jerusalem the visiting German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Jerusalem. The two held a joint press conference.

Sa’ar said his German counterpart’s visit “reflects the strategic Israeli-German friendship.”

“Our joint operation with the US against the Iranian terror regime is preventing nuclear proliferation and a nuclear arms race in the world’s most dangerous region,” said Sa’ar. “We commend Germany’s moral leadership of the process to designate the IRGC as a terror organization in the EU.”

Minister Wadephul commented, “Iran opposes not only Israel, but the entire region and Europe. It is clear that they are still pursuing a program that could lead them to possess a nuclear bomb, which is of course a threat to the whole world, not just Israel or Germany. They are on their way, with their ballistic missile program, to possess a truly enormous amount of such weapons, which threaten us all. And they are still financing and commanding, as we see with Hezbollah, these terrorist groups that attack Israel – Hezbollah, the Houthis and Hamas.”

“So that is still the case,” he added. “At this very stage, where we are right now, we still have a regime in Tehran that clearly defines its main political goal as the destruction of the State of Israel. And that cannot be ignored, especially not by the German government.”

The two also visited together the site of last week’s Iranian missile attack in Beit Shemesh where nine people were killed and met the families of some of the victims.
