Jerusalem, 2 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that, in recent days elements of its Givati Infantry Brigade launched an operation to achieve” operational control” and to “clear” the villages of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Zawtar al-Gharbiyah in southern Lebanon. The operation came, said the IDF, as part of the divisional effort to strengthen operational control in southern Lebanon and remove the direct threat to the “Finger of the Galilee” and Metula.
The forces crossed the Litani River and conducted targeted raids on Hezbollah terrorist Infrastructure in the area, locating and destroying weapons and terrorists.
To date, over 100 strikes have been carried out with Air Force support, approximately 20 terrorists have been eliminated, and hundreds of weapons have been found in civilian homes in the area.
