Israel Police undercover Border Police operatives, acting on Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) intelligence, arrested four suspects overnight in connection with weapons smuggling in southern Israel, police said.
The operation, conducted jointly with IDF troops from the 80th Division, Squadron 100, and the police aviation unit, took place in an IDF firing zone in the Paran area near the Egyptian border.
Police said the undercover force, working with both covert and visible units, located the suspects’ vehicle with aerial support from Squadron 100 and the police aviation unit. During the arrest attempt, the suspects tried to flee, endangering officers and nearly running over personnel. Facing immediate danger, the force fired at the vehicle’s tires, stopped it and detained all four suspects.
The four suspects, residents of the Negev, were arrested and transferred to Shin Bet custody for further questioning.
