Israels High Court Freezes Appointment of New State Comptroller

Israel's High Court has issued an interim injunction freezing Michael Rabello's appointment as State Comptroller until a final decision is made.

Israel’s High Court of Justice issued an interim injunction Wednesday halting the entry of attorney Michael Rabello into the role of State Comptroller, pending a ruling on petitions challenging his appointment.

The court said the order was issued “in light of the timeline required given the conclusion of the incumbent State Comptroller’s term, and in order to allow sufficient time to issue a ruling.”

The justices clarified that the injunction is meant to preserve the status quo until a decision is reached, and that a ruling would be issued as soon as possible.
