Second Dose of MMRV Vaccine Brought Forward
Israel's Ministry of Health announced today, July 1, 2026, that the second MMRV vaccine dose for children will be administered at 18 months.
Jerusalem, 1 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In accordance with the practice in many developed countries around the world, and after in-depth staff work by the Public Health Division, the Ministry of Health announces that, starting today, July 1, 2026, the routine vaccination program for children in Israel will be updated. As part of the change, the administration of the second dose of the MMRV vaccine, which includes measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox, will be brought forward from first grade to 18 months of age.
The decision was made after professional staff work conducted at the Ministry of Health, both following measles outbreaks in recent years and in light of the recommendations of the Vaccine Advisory Committee.
Israel recently saw a number of measles cases around the country.
