Jerusalem, 8 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli authorities warned of high air pollution levels across much of the country on Sunday due to dust carried by strong southwesterly winds from North Africa.

According to the Health and Environment Ministries, elevated concentrations of fine respiratory particles were recorded in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan area, the Coastal Plain, Jerusalem, Judea, the Negev and other areas — with conditions expected to worsen on Monday. The ministries urged sensitive groups — including people with heart or lung disease, the elderly, children and pregnant women — to avoid strenuous outdoor activity, while advising the general public to limit exertion.

Air quality is expected to gradually improve on Tuesday.
