Jerusalem, 7 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Health is conducting health system situation assessments and preparations regarding the ongoing Ebola virus outbreaks around the world.
As part of this, the Ministry held preparedness discussions in recent days, including a discussion within the Supreme Hospitalization Authority headed by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, as well as a discussion within the framework of the Epidemic Management Team (EMT), as part of the ongoing monitoring of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the health system’s assessments of possible scenarios.
Currently, the risk of an Ebola outbreak in Israel, similar to other Western countries, remains low, and there are no known cases of patients outside of the endemic areas in Africa (except for patients who have been evacuated in a controlled manner to their countries of origin). The Ministry of Health continues to monitor developments around the world and is in constant contact with the World Health Organization and other international health authorities.
As part of the preparation, the ministry is working to formulate mechanisms for transmitting information to travelers returning from countries where there is active morbidity, with the aim of increasing awareness and enabling early identification of suspected cases.
In addition, professional guidelines will be distributed in the coming days to the relevant medical teams and hospitals, which are prepared to receive any suspected Ebola case that reaches Israel.
As part of the national preparedness, hospitals were distributed with dedicated equipment, including protective equipment and additional measures required for the safe treatment of suspected cases.
As part of the health system’s preparations to deal with high-risk infectious diseases, the Ministry of Health is promoting the establishment of designated complexes for the treatment of cases where there is suspicion of illness.
