Jerusalem, 9 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Starting Wednesday, Israeli schools will reopen in yellow zones — areas designated by Israel’s Home Front Command as a moderate security risk — Education Minister Yoav Kisch announced.

Authorities requesting exceptions are expected to receive approval from both the Command and the Education Ministry. Due to the complexity and risk of transporting special education students at this time, parents will be responsible for their transportation in the first stage.

In reopening areas, local authorities must provide care solutions for young children of staff if no educational frameworks exist, ensuring staff can return to work.
