Jerusalem, 7 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Burau of Statistics released a collection of data from the 2025 Social Survey on the subject of the visually impaired in Israel, on the occasion of National Day of Solidarity with the Blind and Visually Impaired, which was observed on Saturday.
The data is based on the question: “Do you have difficulty seeing? Even when you wear glasses.”
The answer options were: no difficulty; there is little difficulty; there is a lot of difficulty; I don’t see it at all.
Those who answered “have great difficulty” or “cannot see at all,” were defined as having difficulty seeing.
Among those aged 20 and over- Visual impairment is positively correlated with age:
Among those aged 65 and over, 7.0% have very poor vision, among those aged 20-64 – 2.0%.
Employment and economic situation among 20–64-year-olds:
Among those with vision difficulties – 48% are employed, compared to 77% of those who do not have vision difficulties at these ages.
50% of those with visual impairments have difficulty or are unable to cover their expenses at all , compared to 24% of those without visual impairments.
