Switch Program to Promote Changeover to Renewable Energies Launched

Israel's Ministry of Energy launches the 'Switch' program in 23 local authorities, educating youth on renewable energy and sustainability.

Jerusalem, 10 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s “Switch” program launched in 23 local authorities. The program, which will operate in the upcoming school year, will prepare young men and women from across the country to become familiar with the world of Energy, sustainability, and the development of community projects with a local impact.

The program will include dedicated training for young men and women, in which participants will acquire knowledge in the fields of energy, energy efficiency, renewable energies, efficient transportation, and the impact of energy consumption on the environment and the community.

In each local authority selected to participate in the program, a youth group of 25-35 students from grades 8-10 will be established, who will undergo an in-depth educational process that includes a series of meetings, professional guidance, and the development of a community project with a local impact. Each group will identify an environmental challenge in the field of sustainable energy in its immediate environment and develop an applied response – from outreach and education to innovative field initiatives.

The program is designed to strengthen the involvement of the younger generation in promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility, and to provide youth with tools to lead change in the community.
