Energy Ministry Survey Reveals Wide Gaps in Household Gas Prices Across Israel
Israel's Energy Ministry survey highlights a NIS 760 annual price gap for household gas in Tel Aviv due to low competition, urging consumers to compare.
Jerusalem, 24 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A new survey by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure shows that families in Israel may be paying very different prices for the same household gas, depending on their supplier. The ministry says the gap can reach about NIS 760 ($262) a year for a typical household in Tel Aviv.
According to the findings, prices for common gas cylinders vary widely: a 12 kg tank can cost between NIS 90-210 ($31-$72) while a 48 kg tank ranges from NIS 340-611 ($117-$11). Even regular service bills differ by Hundreds of shekels per year between companies.
The ministry said the differences are due to low competition and difficulty switching suppliers. The ministry added that has launched a new plan to publish monthly price comparisons by city, making it easier for consumers to compare offers and switch providers.
