Israels Foreign Minister Declares: Hezbollah Only Obstacle to Peace with Lebanon
Ahead of peace talks, Israeli FM Gideon Sa'ar identified Hezbollah as the only impediment to normalization with Lebanon.
Jerusalem, 22 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke about the relationship between Israel and Lebanon ahead of renewed peace talks to begin after Israel’ Independence Day celebrations being held today.
“We have no major disputes with Lebanon,” he declared.
Sa’ar also said there are a number of what he called “minor disagreements” regarding the setting of the international border between the countries that can be resolved.
However, the obstacle to peace and normalization between the countries is Hezbollah.
Sa’ar made a call to the Lebanese government saying, “Let us cooperate against the terrorist state that Hezbollah has established on your territory. This cooperation is needed even more by you than by us.”
