Israeli Agency Refutes New UN Claims of Gaza Food Shortages
COGAT refutes UN claims of starvation in Gaza, stating abundant food supplies and operational routes, contradicting UN social media posts.
Jerusalem, 27 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli agency COGAT (Coordinator of the Government Activities in the Territories) refuted claims made once again by the UN that people are starving in Gaza.
“It is time to stop recycling old narratives when the reality on the ground has changed significantly,” it said.
An average of 600 trucks a day, 1.5 Million tons of food, supporting 209 local kitchens and 33 bakeries, and 3.6 million fresh pitas daily since the start of the ceasefire alone, reported COGAT.
“During the ceasefire, food entry surged to four times your (the UN) own stated estimated needs; the supply is there for an extended amount of time , the routes are open, and we continue to approve your requests when we get them,” said COGAT in a social media post.
“There is a gap between our calls, and cooperation, and what you (the UN) are putting out on social media,” it added.
This came in response to a post made on Twitter by the UN in which it alleged, “In Gaza, 1 in 5 households survives on just one meal a day. Many families are forced to borrow money or resort to desperate measures to get enough food.”
