Jerusalem, 10 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said Friday that Israel will no longer allow Spain to participate in the Civil-Military Coordination Center in Kiryat Gat (CMCC), accusing Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s government of sustained hostility toward Israel.
Sa’ar said the Sánchez government had been acting against Israel “in every possible way,” accusing the Spanish premier and his ministers of spreading false blood libels against Israel and its military, while also inciting against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Τhe Israel FM went on to say that Madrid has repeatedly tried, unsuccessfully, to push sanctions against Israel in the European Union and harmed the interests of both Israel and the United States during the war with Iran.
Clarifying that the move was taken in coordination with PM Netanyahu, Gideon Sa’ar explained Israel had informed its U.S. allies of the decision in advance.
Sa’ar added that Spain’s “obsessive anti-Israel bias” under Sánchez had stripped it of any ability to play a constructive role in implementing President Donald Trump’s peace plan and in the center operating under that framework.
