Foreign Minister Gideon Saar met Sunday with South Sudan Foreign Minister James Pitia Morgan at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.
“Israel has signed a framework agreement that reflects our desire for peace with Lebanon,” Saar said. “Peace must be based on security, and security on our northern border can only be achieved through the disarmament of Hezbollah. This is a shared interest of both Israel and Lebanon.
“Those who are violating Lebanon’s sovereignty are Iran and Hezbollah. Peace requires freeing Lebanon from the de facto Iranian occupation it has been under for decades.
“The presence of the Israel Defense Forces in the security zone in Southern Lebanon is solely related to the security needs arising from the ongoing attacks and threats against Israel and its citizens from Lebanese territory. Our only aspiration is to live in peace and security,” Saar said.
