Israel Completes Upgrade of Sri Lankas Kfir Fighter Jets

Israel Aerospace Industries has successfully upgraded Sri Lanka's Kfir fighter jets, boosting their avionics, systems, and operational readiness.

Jerusalem, 11 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has completed a modernization program for the Sri Lanka Air Force’s Kfir fighter aircraft fleet, with the upgraded aircraft successfully completing its first flight. The project included advanced avionics and mission systems upgrades, structural refurbishment, and enhanced maintenance capabilities aimed at extending the aircraft’s operational life and improving mission readiness.

The upgraded Kfirs feature a modern glass cockpit, improved navigation and communication systems, and enhanced precision-strike capabilities. Developed in Israel in the 1970s, the Kfir remains in service with several air forces worldwide.
