Israel Aerospace Industries Introduces Plug-and-Play Naval Warfare System
Israel Aerospace Industries launches DIAMOND, a plug-and-play naval system for frigates, utilizing companion vessels for enhanced offensive and defensive.
Jerusalem, 20 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel Aerospace Industries unveiled DIAMOND, a modular naval combat system designed to enhance the offensive and defensive capabilities of existing frigates without requiring new ship construction. The system deploys smaller companion vessels operating alongside a mother frigate, carrying modular sensor and weapon packages that are remotely controlled and fully integrated with the ship’s radar and fire-control systems.
Built on a plug-and-play container architecture, DIAMOND allows rapid reconfiguration of capabilities within hours. The companion vessels can host loitering munitions, cruise and ballistic missiles, air defense systems and counter-drone technologies.
IAI says the concept expands firepower and operational flexibility across maritime missions.
