Three Ultra-Orthodox Arrested for Storming of Police Station During Riot

Jerusalem police arrested three Ultra-Orthodox men in Beit Shemesh for a violent riot and break-in at a police station compound following an arrest.

Jerusalem, 9 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — During the night, Jerusalem District police raided the homes of three suspects (Beit Shemesh, 26, 46, and 56) involved in the violent disorder and break-in at the Beit Shemesh station compound about a week ago, when ultra-orthodox rioters stormed the station after a member of their community was arrested for draft evasion.

On Monday (01.06.26), a break-in attempt occurred at the Beit Shemesh station, when rioters breached one of the compound’s gates. During the incident, a disorder developed that included vandalism, placing rocks in traffic routes, and igniting several fire sites. Police forces, including Border Guard fighters, blocked the rioters and dispersed the disorder using means.

Jerusalem District Commander, Deputy Commissioner Avshalom Peled: “We will not tolerate any harm to symbols of authority and to the police officers working to protect the law and the public. We will not put up with anarchy and will not allow harm to police facilities.”
