Ramla synagogue fire: Arson suspected, police investigate

Police suspect arson after a fire damaged a Ramla synagogue and adjacent food warehouse, with investigators examining all leads.

Commander of the Ramla station in the Central District, Superintendent Efi Tsova: “At this stage, all investigation avenues are being examined. We will act quickly and professionally to exhaust the investigation and bring the rioters to justice.” During the night, a report was received at the police hotline about a fire that broke out in a synagogue complex in the city of Ramla. A preliminary examination indicates that the source of the fire is in a food distribution warehouse for the needy located in the rear part of the synagogue. As a result of the fire, the flames also spread into the synagogue building and caused extensive damage to the site. Police officers and firefighting forces operated at the scene also to evacuate holy books. At this stage, all investigation avenues are being examined, including suspicion of arson. A fire investigator from the Fire and Rescue Services is operating at the scene to provide a professional opinion, and at the same time, police officers from the Central District, Ramla station, are conducting intelligence operations, collecting evidence, and taking testimonies.
