Israels National Police Commissioner Orders Expansion of Operation Against Violent Crime in Arab Areas

Israel's Police Commissioner Danny Levy has ordered an expansion of "Operation Iron Net" to combat violent crime in Arab communities, with thousands of officers.

Jerusalem, 1 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s national Police Commissioner Danny Levy directed the expansion of “Operation Iron Net” against violence in Arab communities.

The Commissioner’s directive was given to the local police districts, the police’s Lahav (Blade) 433 investigation unit (Israel’s version of the FBI), and to Border Police.

In April, there was a 46 percent decrease in murder incidents in Arab society compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, reported the Israel Police.

Thousands of police officers are taking part in the expanded operation, and it includes the use of all means, financial enforcement, removal by administrative order, searches and arrests.

The operation is expected to last about a month, with a daily assessment of the situation under close supervision by the Commissioner, in order to examine the effectiveness and make adjustments.

the Israel Police said it will “pursue the perpetrators of the violence and murder incidents, and will not relent until the incidents are reduced, so that the country’s citizens in Arab society can feel safe on the streets of the city and in their homes and called the fight against the rising violence in Arab society “a national struggle that requires the active involvement of all relevant parties.”
