Israel Police confirms Eldar Dayan's body found; two suspects arrested and detained for 6 days in ongoing investigation.
A notification was delivered to his family. In accordance with the directive of the Commander of the Central District, Superintendent Amir Cohen, the investigation into the disappearance of Eldar Dayan was transferred yesterday from the responsibility of the Dimona station in the Southern District to the treatment of the Sharon Central Unit in the Central District, after all search operations and lines of inquiry conducted so far were exhausted. This morning, as part of extensive searches led by the Sharon Central Unit, in cooperation with officers from the Petah Tikva station, Border Police fighters, and volunteers, a body was located in an open area near Highway 40. Upon completion of the identification process at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, it was determined that it was Eldar Dayan, may he rest in peace. As part of the ongoing investigation in the Sharon Central Unit, two suspects who were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the disappearance of Eldar Dayan, may he rest in peace, were brought before the court today. The court granted the police’s request and extended their detention by 6 days, until August 12, 2026, while their involvement in his death is being investigated as part of the investigation. The Israel Police shares in the family’s sorrow and will continue to conduct an investigation in order to bring all those involved to justice.
