Due to the expected weather tomorrow – road closures are anticipated throughout the South. The Southern District, with all its units, is preparing for the expected rainfall system that will affect the southern region.

The forecast is for heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms, expected to begin as early as the early afternoon hours. As a result, flash floods are expected along southern roads, including Road 234 (Tz’alim Bridge), Road 232 (Shikma Stream), Road 40 (Tzichor Stream), and Road 90 – from Ein Gedi to Menucha Junction. As part of a situation assessment held today, and in consideration of public safety and road user security, a decision was made that, depending on weather developments, preemptive road closures may occur tomorrow throughout the South. Accordingly, we request the general public to plan their journeys in advance over the coming days and to adjust their travel routes to the weather conditions. Southern District Police officers, the National Traffic Police, rescue units, Border Police fighters, and volunteer emergency response teams will be deployed in the relevant areas to provide optimal service to road users and to protect their lives and safety. Israel Police will provide ongoing updates regarding road closures and traffic disruptions due to the weather, and recommends the public avoid reaching areas where weather hazards are feared, and to be attentive to forecasts and instructions. We call on the public to drive with great caution and not to approach areas where flash floods are feared, due to the existing dangers of falling, being swept away, and drowning. Patience and restraint are required, and officers should be allowed to perform their duties.
