In addition, two Glock pistols were seized at the end of a chase after a suspect, a lawyer by profession. As part of extensive operational preparations by the Northern District and the Border Police ahead of the Sacrifice holiday, several serious criminal attacks that were intended to be carried out in the immediate future were thwarted tonight. In the first incident, following information about the intention of suspects from the village of Muqeibleh to carry out an assassination, forces from the Northern District and the Border Police were deployed in the area and sealed off a compound where a suspect was hiding. As the forces entered, the suspect began to flee on foot but was arrested after a chase. A search conducted by the forces in the compound revealed a cache of deadly weapons and an entire logistical warehouse of a professional assassination cell, which included seven weapons: four M16 rifles, a Kalashnikov rifle, and two Glock pistols. In addition, a huge quantity of ammunition was found, along with gloves and helmets. Meanwhile, an operational Toyota RAV4 vehicle with duplicated license plates was seized at the scene, alongside an electric dirt bike, which were specifically prepared to be used by the murderers for carrying out murders and a quick escape from the scene. In another operation tonight in the village of Muqeibleh, Northern District police officers and Border Police fighters raided the compound of a lawyer’s home, following information about armament and organization for violent incidents. Upon the forces’ arrival at the compound, the officers identified three suspects in the yard, including the lawyer, who began to flee on foot upon the force’s arrival. At the end of a foot chase, the lawyer was apprehended, and in his escape route, two loaded Glock pistols with 9mm magazines and bullets ready for action were found. Police Commissioner, Commissioner-General Danny Levi: “Tonight’s operational activity in the North is a clear example of an offensive, proactive, and sharp police force, breaking the status quo against crime. The impressive thwarting, the seizure of weapons, and the arrest of the lawyer, prove time and again that our fighters and officers have no intention of letting criminals raise their heads.” Commander of the Northern District, Superintendent Meir Eliyahu: “The determined activity of the assault forces, detectives, and Border Police fighters in the North tonight prevented a planned bloodbath in the heart of the sector. The fact that tonight we are thwarting an assassination cell with a duplicated vehicle and seven weapons, and simultaneously arresting a lawyer, proves that criminals have no red lines.”
