The fighters activated the spike barrier at the crossing, onto which the suspect vehicle drove during its escape, hitting a civilian vehicle that was present in the crossing area at the time. Following the escape attempt, Border Police forces from the Jerusalem Envelope and Jerusalem Border Police initiated a pursuit and searches for the suspects, and located them at the entrance to the Issawiya neighborhood in East Jerusalem, driving a different vehicle. The vehicle suspected of being stolen, with which the suspects breached the barrier, was located in Beit Hanina. The two involved, a resident of Jerusalem suspected of transporting the second suspect, an illegal resident from Hebron, were arrested and transferred for investigation.
