3 Detained in 17-Year-Olds Death, Overdose Suspected
Three friends of a 17-year-old boy detained in Ashdod after he died at a party, with police investigating a suspected drug overdose.
Jerusalem, 20 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Three friends of a 17-year-old boy who collapsed and died Wednesday night during a party in Ashdod were detained for questioning. Police increasingly suspect that he died of an overdose after apparently using drugs before or during the party.
The teenager was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
Police investigators are trying to piece together what happened in the hours leading up to his collapse and determine whether drugs were consumed during the gathering and what caused his sudden death.
According to published reports, the teenager was partying with friends in Ashdod when he suddenly felt unwell and collapsed. Emergency responders performed CPR and evacuated him in critical condition to Assuta Ashdod Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
